Overnight Sausage and Egg Souffle

This is my mom’s breakfast casserole recipe.  I don’t even want to know the nutritional info on it.  I can feel the arteries clog just reading it!  Boy does it taste good!

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread, crust removed
  • 1 lb pork sausage, browned and crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • ground pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In 13×9 inch pan, layer bread, sausage and cheese.
  2. Blend together milk, eggs, salt, mustard and pepper
  3. Pour over mixture in pan.
  4. Cover and refrigerate overnight
  5. Preheat oven to 350°
  6. Uncover pan and bake for 45 minutes

I personally am a fan of using spicy sausage, and adding a little tabasco into the mixture.  As with all great egg recipes,  customize for your tastes.  And don’t go for a cholesterol test for a least a month after eating!
