Homemade Chicken Fingers

This was a first time recipe that will be repeated for a long, long time.  I cut down on the pepper because the boys are not pepper fans.  The younger one even believes that black pepper is “spicy”.  Regardless of such ill-placed beliefs, this recipe got two thumbs up and will definitely be in the rotation.  I used a deep fryer for this recipe.  You can also pan fry using about 3 cups of vegetable oil.

  • 10 – 15 fresh raw chicken tenders
  • 1 beaten egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 2 teaspoons roasted garlic chips (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  1. Plug in deep fry and set to about 365 degrees.
  2. Beat the egg and milk together in a bowl.
  3. Combine the flour with the garlic salt, pepper, poultry seasoning and paprika in a big plastic bag.
  4. Put the chicken in the bag, seal it and shake to coat it.
  5. Dip the flour-coated chicken in the egg mixture and again in the flour mixture.
  6. Carefully place chicken in deep fryer for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and thoroughly cooked.
  7. Drain it on paper towels and serve.
